The theme of Impact magazine this month is “Execute.” The Marketing and Public Relations (M&PR) Committee knows that being a business owner can be challenging and time-consuming, and you may not have the resources within your company to meet all your marketing and PR needs.

You have lots of ideas in your head, but you need about eight more hours in the day to execute them. As a PPS member, you have the M&PR committee resources at your fingertips whenever you need them, and we will continue to create new resources for you every year.

I am thrilled to be the new Chair of the M&PR Committee, knowing that filling the shoes of Dr. Michelle Collie will be virtually impossible. Dr. Collie has left a remarkable legacy in the M&PR Committee, and I am looking to follow in her footsteps and create meaningful new content for PPS members. My goal as the committee’s new chairperson is to work with the committee members to develop new resources to take the marketing burden off PPS members.

Many of you have taken advantage of the vast M&PR resources on the PPS website. If you have not yet explored that part of the website, I highly encourage you to do so. The resources you will find include:

  • The Monthly Marketing Toolkit (one of my favorites)
  • Social Media Shareables that allow you to add your own company branding
  • The Fit Factor Survey
  • 99 Marketing Ideas
  • The Marketing 101 Video Series
  • COVID-19 Marketing Resources

The committee is currently working on new projects for 2022 that we feel will have an immediate impact on the marketing efforts of PPS members. In May, we held a webinar, “How to Get the Most Out of Your Community Events.” If you missed the live event, you can still access the recording in the PPS Learning Center. This webinar teaches members how to be a standout vendor at your local charity run, wellness fair, or other community event. Another webinar will focus on creating promotional videos for your business to use on your website or social media channels. We are also working on an awareness calendar that will highlight pertinent months, weeks, and days that may be important to your business or your community. The calendar will include social media images, story prompts for blog posts, and pitch ideas for your local newspaper or TV stations.

The Marketing and Public Relations Committee’s goal is to provide PPS members with the education and resources they need to market their business to their community more efficiently and effectively. We fully align with the Private Practice Section’s mission of championing the success of the physical therapist in business. We believe our offerings are an essential piece of what the section offers and are honored to contribute.
