Connection…what a great theme and quite fitting for the return of CSM in person!

The past CSM was a virtual event that spanned February 2021. The ability to host such a large-scale virtual event was quite the feat. And while it was overwhelmingly successful, it did lack in one area: the ability to meet colleagues and fellow physical therapists face to face. CSM 2022 is being held in San Antonio, Texas from February 2-5. PPS has 11 in-person educational sessions scheduled. Expanding on lessons learned during the pandemic and our virtual event, four of the 11 sessions will be available through an on-demand virtual platform in March.

The content provided in the educational sessions will benefit every physical therapist from novice to experienced. Often, we find that each physical therapist identifies with one or more academies and/or sections, such as ortho or sports, at this conference. The goal of this year’s CSM workgroup is to highlight the many faces of physical therapy business, and it isn’t just for current business owners. The Section has resources and tools to promote the business and leadership role that each physical therapist has in their respective workplace regardless of whether they are in private practice. We hope to show that PPS membership is a great adjunct to any physical therapy specialty: an academic needing to learn to create a budget, a pediatric physical therapist wanting to go solo, a therapist starting a consulting business, and a new physical therapist thinking of a career as a self-employed practitioner, cash- or insurance-based. As we kick off a new year and a return to in-person conference programming, we hope we continue to do what we missed so much in the past year: connect with each other!
