Editor’s Note

In 2023, much like the changing colors of the seasons, Impact journeyed through the rainbow, exhibiting the variability of its beautiful hues through content that spanned the spectrum.

Beginning in January with yellow, we highlighted caution and optimism, then proceeded to the fire of red, freshness of green, certainty of black and white, tenderness of rose, ambiguity of gray, sereneness of blue, richness of purple, excitement of orange, and lastly the prestige of gold for October. So where might we choose to take the final issue of the year? Well, multicolor of course!

Much like our membership base, Impact houses content of every viewpoint that promotes the sharing of alternative views to better broaden our understanding of this profession and, more importantly, the world in which we live. Our multicolor issue continues that theme and encompasses topics of diversity, inclusion, fun, and alternative approaches that transcend the single colors of the rainbow.

Audrey Finer shares her views on “Creating a Culture of Fun” which will liven up your practice in the new year, while Lizzie Bellinger offers tips for how “You Can Start an LGBTQ+ Friendly Niche Practice.” The content in this issue will encourage you to take an alternative approach to everything from how you reach people to how you pay your employees. It’s a gem that emanates every shade of amazing, and its gift of light will expand your mind and your pupils.

This year has been a lot of fun for the Impact team as we planned an entire year of content centered around colors. What’s up for next year? Well, let’s say we have two tricks up our sleeves. One…we are moving to a hybrid model of content delivery. Five print issues and six digital issues will arrive monthly starting in January. Please share your thoughts on how you are enjoying this new style.

The second trick? A new incredible theme. You should know better by now but of course we’re not going to tell you! But I assure you, we are working hard to bring you an amazing series of issues that will absolutely knock your socks off.
