From the President

It was suggested that my contribution to this month’s Impact, “Reflections,” be just that: a reflection of the past three years as your PPS President.

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt

My platform was to be a bridge from the leaders of the past, to the leaders of today and of the future. Being elected as PPS’s first female president is a tremendous honor and only one of the breaks from tradition that your Board has embraced over the past three years. I have reflected on how I wanted to hit the ground running and get the wealth of resources that PPS offers in front of physical therapy business owners, making them lifetime members. A goal, that among many others your Board has, that depended on a strong infrastructure. In August 2018, the Board was presented with an opportunity to secure a strong infrastructure when APTA announced leaving the association management business. A door closed and opportunity arrived. Through a diligent process, your Board hired Association Headquarters (AH) for PPS management and successfully implemented that transition on September 1, 2019.

“When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt

Perhaps the most notable reflection in 2020 is on the COVID-19 pandemic. What did PPS do in response? PPS stepped up. Thirty or so of our colleagues rose to the occasion. They collectively used their knowledge, connections, calmness, honesty, humor, passion, and a drive to help you and me survive this pandemic. That’s what we are all about. We put aside our own personal agendas for the collective good – the physical therapist in business.

Success goes to the ones who do. Get up. Show up. Throw up if you have to. Do it afraid, but do it no matter.” — Toni Sorenson

Thank you for your support and trust. PPS is a diverse group of passionate physical therapy business owners. Trust me, it is. PPS is our home. Join me in inviting others to the party!

Best,

The next Board meeting will take place November 10, 2020, at 3 PM EST.
